From Sleepless Nights to a Wellness Revolution: The Story of Elastique

What if one of the most innovative wellness garments on the market was born not in a lab—but during sleepless nights as a young mother navigating life in a new country?

Recently featured in Le Monde Magazine in France, Elastique founder Émeline Kuhner-Stout shared the deeply personal journey behind the brand: from diplomacy and expatriate life to creating patented compression garments designed to support circulation, lymphatic drainage, and everyday wellness.

What began as a search for relief became a new category of wellness apparel.

The Beginning: Searching for Answers

In the early 2010s, Émeline Kuhner-Stout moved from Europe to Houston after leaving her career in diplomacy with organizations including the OECD and the United Nations. Like many women balancing motherhood, relocation, and identity shifts, she began experiencing heavy legs, swelling, and fatigue despite exercising and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Unable to find a simple, effective solution, she began researching late into the night while caring for her baby. She explored scientific studies on circulation, venous health, lymphatic drainage, massage therapies, and compression garments.

What she discovered was clear: massage helps, compression works, and stimulating circulation consistently can make a real difference. But existing solutions felt inconvenient, medical, or disconnected from modern life.

She envisioned something entirely different:
a garment that could combine compression and massage in one wearable solution.

The Birth of an Idea

That idea became the foundation of Elastique.

Émeline imagined leggings designed with intelligent graduated compression and integrated MicroPerle® that gently stimulate circulation with movement throughout the day—without complicated routines or appointments.

After confirming that no similar patent existed, she began developing prototypes in Houston. Early versions were tested by friends and fellow expatriates, who immediately noticed both the concept and the results.

Their only feedback?
Make them more beautiful.

That challenge became part of the mission: merging performance, wellness, and refined design.

Building Elastique Across Europe

Over the following years, Émeline refined the technology and assembled premium European manufacturing partners:

  • MicroPerle® produced in Italy by a supplier working with Chanel
  • Technical textiles developed in France
  • Garment manufacturing in Portugal

As the fit, comfort, and feel evolved, Elastique officially launched in 2019.

The brand later gained momentum as conversations around lymphatic health and recovery entered the wellness mainstream. The Book of Lymph by Lisa Levitt Gainsley highlighted Elastique’s garments as a way to extend the benefits of lymphatic drainage, introducing the brand to a broader audience.

Soon after, Gwyneth Paltrow appeared on Instagram wearing Elastique leggings, accelerating awareness through organic word of mouth.

A New Chapter in Austin

Today, Elastique continues to grow from Austin, Texas, where Émeline now lives with her family.

The brand recently expanded into France with a dedicated e-commerce platform and retail presence in Paris. Upcoming launches include a new generation of compression socks and a men’s collection—continuing Elastique’s mission to redefine compression and wellness apparel for modern lifestyles.

What began as one woman searching for answers has evolved into a global wellness brand rooted in innovation, movement, and thoughtful design.
